LEDs consume +/-80% less energy than traditional light sources, lasting 40 times longer than incandescent bulbs and 5 times longer than compact fluorescents, resulting in less operational and maintenance costs. Another advantage is that LEDs also come in a variety of fixtures, styles, colour temperatures, and wattage so you can customize your lighting to make your workplace comfortable and still save on energy. They also do not emit any IR or UV light, and don’t contain any mercury or phosphor so they are more environmentally friendly as well as energy efficient.
LED is short for Light Emitting Diode, a semi-conductor that emits lights when electricity is applied to it. Unlike traditional light sources, LEDs are more energy efficient, durable, and more versatile considering the various options for fixtures, colour temperature, and light output.
A full-turnkey solution means that our team will provide a quote that incorporates every aspect of the project from installation, electrical permits, labour and materials, acquiring the government incentives, and environmentally responsible recycling of all old bulbs and fixtures.
Lightenco always implements a thorough assessment of the current lighting to understand exactly what is needed for each unique location by analyzing colour temperature, the quality of the light (Colour Rendering Index-CRI), light output in lumens, voltage, location restrictions from the surrounding environment, and uses this information to select the correct voltage and wattage of LED that best fits the situation.
LEDs should not flicker. If you have an LED that is flickering it is likely the result of being installed in an existing fluorescent fixture and is incompatible with the fluorescent ballast and technology or it could be incompatibility with a dimmer or other lighting control equipment. If you are experiencing these issues, contact Lightenco and we’ll give you some recommendations to permanently fix the issue.
All of the LED lights that Lightenco uses are Energy Star and Design Lights Consortium (DLC) listed, meaning they have been thoroughly tested to meet quality and performance standards for different environments, as well as meeting the cUL and cETL safety standards.
Since 2011, Lightenco has provided award-winning service to business’ across Canada to help save millions in annual energy costs, and our successful partnerships and work over the years is reflected in our testimonials and our case studies as well as being the recipient of many awards relating to business growth, sustainability and customer satisfaction over more than 10 years.
Lightenco works with incentive programs across Canada such as the IESO’s Save on Energy program to provide a monetary incentive up to 50% of the project cost while managing the process every step of the way for you. For EV Charging solutions various programs exist across Canada, again offering up to 50% of eligible project costs.
Level 2 network connected EV chargers can generate a set hourly revenue throughout the year, advertises a strong green brand through reducing GHG emissions, and will attract more people to your building through advertised locations on charging station maps and mobile apps.
Absolutely. Lightenco provides a full-turnkey solution for your home by providing an assessment, proposing different charging options, electrical installation, labour, and commissioning.
A Level 2 EV charger is the most common charger for commercial and residential use, uses 240V and needs approximately 40A to provide a typical charge between 6-8 hours at 7.2kW. Level 1 chargers come with your electric vehicle and plug directly into your homes 120V AC wall outlet, but only charge at around 1.3kW so your EV will charge much slower.
Our experienced energy auditors will move through your building to get exact counts of every light and to determine the voltage and wattage so you understand exactly how much energy you’re using from lighting and provide recommendations on how you can save energy and money annually from switching to energy efficient LED’s. And the great part, it’s completely free!
There are lots of options for installing LEDs from simple screw-in bulbs to LED tubes or brand-new LED fixtures. Depending on the space there are certain LED fixtures that will work better than others to improve your light levels, improve the overall aesthetic and value of your building, as well as saving energy and reducing your electrical bills. Lightenco will provide you with several recommendations to find the right solution for you and your workspace.
Our energy auditors and electricians will visit your site to determine the load your facility uses and whether your electrical panel can accommodate an EV charger, what is the ideal location, what are the installation and ESA requirements, provide on-site help and answers for your questions and recommend the ideal solution for your business or home.
The first step is for Lightenco to provide an assessment of your home or business. This involves determining the electrical requirements including electrical panel capacity, invertor size, installation needs including the pitch of your roof and proper alignment with the sun, ESA requirements, and finding the right panels for your home or business.
Renewable solar generation will allow you to reduce your electricity bills by generating free renewable energy that offsets the cost of electrical cooling and heating as well as other electrical appliances and equipment. Solar panels can power the appliances in your home, and any remaining energy can be fed back into the Ontario electrical grid once your electricity needs have been met. And they help us to reduce our GHG emissions and develop more sustainable practices for our future.
Absolutely! There are federal programs such as the Greener Homes Program through NRCan or local municipal programs across Canada that provide loans of up to $5,000 for the installation of energy saving equipment such as solar panels, as well as air and ground source heat pumps to move away from GHG emitting equipment like natural gas furnaces.
